Year 2 Great Fire of London Day

Year 2 Great Fire of London Day

A report by Ruby and Nathan (2W): On Thursday, we had a Great Fire of London Day.  We all dressed up to look like children in Tudor times.  Each table had something different to do.  We made dough that could be twisted or plaited and if you let it go hard, it could be used as an ornament. There was a Doctor’s surgery with a horn to listen to your heart and we learnt to make medicine.  If you had a sore arm, they would put a bandage on it or chop it off!  Nathan chopped Mrs Williams’s arm off! We learnt to make cups out of clay and we learnt to make jewellery out of melted metal.  We had to be archaeologists and using brushes, we found an old egg cup, a knitting needle and some pottery.  We learnt how, where and who started the Great Fire which was very interesting.  We learnt how we would have tried the put the fire out, including how to blow up and pull down houses.  We loved the day and we learnt loads.
